 Teej is the generic name for a number of Hindu festivals that are celebrated by women in Nepal and many parts of India (mainly in North and Central India). Haryali Teej and Hartalika Teej welcome the monsoon season and are celebrated primarily by girls and women, with songs, dancing and prayer rituals.


Teej refers to the mo and northern states of Indiansoon festivals, observed particularly in Nepal and western. The festivals celebrate the bounty of nature, arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds with social activity, rituals and customs. The festivals for women, include dancing, singing, getting together with friends and telling stories, dressing up with henna-coloured hands and feet, wearing red, green or orange clothes, sharing festive foods, and playing under trees on swings on Haryali Teej.]

The festivals are dedicated, in many parts of Nepal and India, to Parvati.Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on August 21Hartalika Teej is also known as "Nepal Women's Festival" and "Women's Wishing Festival". The events would last for three days, including enjoying a grand feast, observing a rigid fasting, praying to Lord Shiva, bathing in the holy river, presenting traditional performances, etc. Nepali Women's Day is generally referred to the second day of Teej Festival
